"The ground rushed up fast and I found myself facedown in an inch of filthy water. My nose was assaulted by a barrage of dirt, blood and other smells better left unsaid. It must have shown on my face because another round of cackling arose from all sides of the pit.
"With a malicious thump, a ceiling of bars appeared blocking any chance of escape. As my eyes further adjusted to the stygian darkness, I found myself looking into the unseeing eyes of my partner and best friend, Stoney. As a scream formed on my lips, another chorus of cackles and grunts filled the air."
